An oft-maligned facet of introspection is the familiar comfort of grief reminiscence. The guilty pleasure of reveling in world-weariness. The unfathomable nostalgia of reliving the violent and extreme gamut of emotion associated with a time of seemingly interminable anguish. The need to feel such convulsing emotion in order to feel alive...

Ofnus wasn’t imagined as a solution for the lack of soundtrack for these feelings, however from the first scrapings of pick against wound string, our direction became apparent. To fuse the dynamic, often bleak and sometimes saw-toothed harshness of black-metal, with the broad and sweeping melodies of modern-classic film score, whilst harnessing any and all other pertinent influences, unabated by genre tropes and with a vision to simply take you on a journey. These vast and evocative soundscapes that veer between sullen and monumental quickly depicted the travel to and the point of nadir. Ofnus and its identity was born.

"Time Held Me Grey And Dying" is an opus to the loss of innocence, a sonic narrative of the uncomfortable realisation of the passage of time and life's most certain inevitability through death. The 50+ minute full length debut by the Welsh five-piece contains 8 vast and evocative soundscapes that veer between sullen and monumental.

Ofnus have a singular goal in mind: to reunite you with your misery.

Ofnus have played the long game and they have made Time Held Me Grey And Dying about as perfect as a debut album as there can be. I’ve been telling for a while not to sleep on this band, they play Bloodstock this year and they will be rapidly rising up the ranks from there.

Ofnus deliver such expansive soundscapes and emotive black metal like an elixir that I couldn’t live without. Dorcalonnus a swynol!

I needed OFNUS this week. Not to say they don't have staying power. That was just an expression, don't be so literal. This is great stuff. This is what keeps my coming back to Black Metal when I thought I had grown out of it.
- Metal Temple

Ofnus is very young, and already possesses a strong identity and an incredibly precise sound between its hazy tones and massive rhythm. Time Held Me Grey And Dying sounds like a promise of gripping melancholy, orchestrated by transcendent vocals.
- Actainfernalis

It’s a huge debut album for this new band and expect their name to spoken in the same reverence as the other UK black metal greats as time goes by.
- GBHBL

The soundscapes are vast end evocative, effortlessly being able to be true to the ideology of raw black metal yet extending its boundaries. Fearless and without compromise, it is a record that conjures the pain of remembrance and regrets and rewards you with depth and unbridled power.  Unmissable.

There are always a few acts that can deliver creations close to what’s come about here, but it should become clear by the end of the first track alone that “Time Held Me Grey and Dying” is in a weight class that none of us could have possibly anticipated.
- Headbanger Reviews

‘Time Held Me Grey And Dying’ is an absolute topper in its (sub) genre. We are already very curious how Ofnus will evolve further.

They may be but dreaming men, but dreams have a habit of coming true.  Prepare to be blown away. This has Album of the Year written all over it.
